FAQs

  • Does my child need any prerequisites or experience beforehand?
    Your child does not need to have any experience in robotics, but they do need to be part of Girl Scouts.
  • Why should we choose this program over others?
    VEX is one of the largest robotics programs, with tournaments in all of the US and over 40 states.
  • How many members are generally on each VEX Robotics team?
    The maximum number of girls on a VEX ROBOTICS team is six girls.
  • How much time each team/teamate put in?
    Teams will participate in 1-2 lab meetings per week, each spanning from 1-4 hours. This is to ensure that each team makes ample progress, and can finish their project. When competitions do come up, the teams tend to spend more and more time at the lab. Of course, it really depends on the team themselves.
  • What does my child gain from this and what experiences do they receive?
    Your child will gain engineering and coding skills, as well leadership skills. They will also gain many important STEM and life skills. Aside from many useful robotics skills, your child will learn teamwork skills and collaboration skills by working with their VEX teammates. Teamwork and collaboration are both extremely important skills and are useful throughout life. Your child will also learn to improve their time management skills, which are crucial in order to succeed in many things.
  • How many VEX Robotics Meetings does each teamate to attend each week?
    This depends on the availability of the team members, as well as how dedicated they are to meet every week. A minimum of once a week is the mandatory requirement as to how many meetings your child has to attend each week.
